Onboard developed a tailored SAP S/4HANA end user IT training program for The Body Shop, a global beauty brand whose founder, Anita Roddick, was a pioneer for social change.

The phased roll out of four SAP software workstreams started in 2019. The company was looking to standardize and streamline their global processes using one unified user interface.

Future project phases are planned that will see the expansion of the primary four workstreams – SAP Merchandising Planning for Retail, SAP Promotion Management for Retail, S/4HANA Product Management and S/4HANA Pricing Management.

The Body Shop and Onboard have successfully collaborated in the past during the company’s implementation of SAP Hybris e-commerce system (more commonly referred to as SAP Customer Experience).

Joanne Harrison, Onboard’s sale director, said “The S/4HANA functionality was new to the entire workforce and the implementation timescales were very tight so our expertise made all the difference.” Jo added: “We were able to provide experienced consultants to scope the training requirements, deliver tailored training sessions using relatable content and produce training materials to ensure a consistent message.”

Onboard’s training consultants are used to developing and updating training materials as a system build progresses. They worked directly with The Body Shop’s workstream leads to drive the entire end-user training program using knowledge transfer session to get at the detail they needed. A structured but flexible review process ensured that late changes to the build and the business processes were included in the final deliverables.

Onboard developed job-specific end user training for each workstream. All users needed to be aware of the changes to business processes for their role and how to use the new system correctly.

Onboard scripted and built animated introduction videos with avatars using the voices of company directors. These were used by the internal communications team to introduce the benefits of S/4HANA before training began.

A video format was used to introduce the new business processes for each workstream. Interactive eLearning modules were developed as guides for system navigation and some of the simpler processes. Face-to-face training sessions were run for the UK planning and merchandising teams followed by virtual delivery via Skype and Webex to users in several global locations. In addition, Onboard produced detailed reference guides to support users back at their desks.

The end-user feedback from training was very reassuring, Onboard had successfully delivered customized rather than generic training sessions using relevant job-related scenarios.

In addition to the S/HANA rollout, Onboard scoped a separate project for the development of classroom-based training supported with reference guides for the company’s launch of SAP Marketing Cloud, an element of the SAP C/4HANA CRM system. Customized to integrate with existing systems, such as Hybris, it will ensure customer data is secure and up to date.
